Michelle Bitting

Michelle Bitting was a modern dancer and a chef before becoming a mother, poet, and devoted outreach worker.  Her poems have been seen or are forthcoming in Prairie Schooner, Many Mountains Moving, Clackamas Literary Review, Slipstream, Gargoyle, Pearl, Rattle, and Dogwood.  She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Philip, and their two young children, Elijah and VeraRose.  Recently, she won first place in the Glimmer Train Poetry Open.  She was a finalist in the 2003 Writers At Work Fellowship Competition, a semi-finalist in the Emily Dickinson Poetry Awards, a finalist in the Willamette Poetry Award and won Honorable Mention in the Art In The Air/Inventing The Invisible Contest.
